Implement The System
Est. Time: 15 min
There is no need to spend years in therapy trying to curb unwanted child behavior. By implementing new rules through simple games, old dynamics are quickly replaced by healthy dynamics that help build a supportive family structure.
Children love Good Puppy, and the system incentivizes them to do well, as good behavior is noticed and promoted. The game creates a new and private language that allows parents to manage child behavior in public, avoiding situations children may find humiliating which usually lead to tantrums.
Follow these simple steps and start making child behavior, something to smile about.

Print Your Tools
Follow the instructions below to print and set up your basic tools.
System Levels
Print 1 page for reference
Follow the instructions on this page to set up consequences on the back side of the Avatar Tags, and to run the avatar behavioral system correctly.
Post this chart somewhere visible for everyone’s reference, including babysitters or care takers.
Three Agreements
Print 1 page / family
Create up to three agreements covering the main behaviors that need to be respected, and clear reasons why. Write them all in the positive, as you get what you focus on. Keep them simple, so that children may easily understand and remember them.
This example should cover most behavior requirements. Feel free to copy it or customize it to your specific needs:
Always Be Polite - Because you treat others the way you want to be treated.
Cooperate - Because you're a member of a family and everyone has to help.
Follow Our Instructions - Because there isn't always time for an explanation.
Agreements build trust and bonding. Children that understand why they’re being asked to do something, are more likely to agree to it, and more capable to do it.
Post somewhere visible to all children.
System Avatar Tags
Print front & back
1 set / child (3 sets / page)
Cut a set per child and fill out the consequences on the back side. Consequences should be established for each child independently, as both privileges and motivators are likely to change according to age and personality type.
Follow the instructions on your System Levels printed chart to decide the privileges each level deserves, and to run the system correctly.
It is the consistent application of rewards and lost privileges, that provides a solid structure children can comprehend and feel safe in.
Post your Avatar Tags on your fridge, board, or somewhere visible to everyone, with the green puppy on top of the stack when starting the day.
Laminate for longer durability.
Behavioral Chart
Print 1 page / child / week
Review the day with the Child Behavioral Journal, the perfect activity to end the day with! Rate overall behavior, praise and reward good behavior, and take advantage of this time together to provide ideas for children to cope with situations that may have come up during the day. Let children go to bed feeling safe and cared for, under a fair and nurturing structure.
These nightly notes will build into a journal you can look back onto to review progress, behavior changes or patterns.
Do not laminate. Archive in a binder, organized by date.
